My recent trek to Everest Base Camp with Transcend Academy of Rock Climbing was an unforgettable experience that left an indelible mark on me. Our group comprised nine members, including seven enthusiastic 16-year-old students and two dedicated teachers who accompanied us on this incredible journey. From the very beginning, TARC’s professionalism and meticulous planning were evident.

The Everest Base Camp Trek is a legendary journey that takes trekkers to the base camp of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. It’s a challenging yet rewarding adventure that offers stunning Himalayan landscapes, cultural immersion, and a sense of accomplishment.
The trek typically takes around 15 days to complete, depending on the specific itinerary chosen. This duration allows for acclimatization and ensures a safer ascent.
The best time to embark on this trek is during the pre-monsoon (spring) season from March to May and the post-monsoon (autumn) season from September to November. During these periods, the weather is generally clear, offering excellent visibility and comfortable trekking conditions.
Prior trekking experience is not mandatory, but a reasonable level of fitness and stamina is recommended. The trek involves walking for several hours each day over varied terrain, including steep ascents and descents.
Our team will obtain all necessary permits.
Accommodation along the trekking route primarily consists of hotels, teahouses, and guesthouses. These facilities offer hygienic, clean rooms and good Nepali and Indian cuisine.
Most tea houses offer a variety of meals, including traditional Nepali dishes like dal bhath (rice and lentils) as well as international options such as pasta, noodles, and soups. Meals are usually served in communal dining areas, and tea or coffee is readily available.
Adequate acclimatisation is crucial to prevent altitude sickness. It’s essential to ascend gradually, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. Trekkers are advised to spend at least one-night acclimatising in Namche Bazaar (3,440 meters) before continuing higher. Our itinerary is specially curated to ensure that you are well-acclimatized.
Altitude sickness is the primary health risk associated with the Everest Base Camp Trek. Other potential risks include cold-related illnesses, gastrointestinal issues, and minor injuries. We carry all necessary medical kits, and our guides are professionally trained in first aid.
Please refer to our gear checklist.
No, you won’t have to. We arrange for porters to carry your main luggage for you. During the trek, you’ll only need to carry a small knapsack containing snacks and personal belongings. This ensures a more comfortable and enjoyable experience as you explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Everest Region without the burden of heavy loads. (Note: Porters carry a load of 10 kg per person.)

In the unlikely event of a grave medical emergency, a chopper evacuation is available, subject to approval by the insurance or nearby hospital doctors. The participants will be moved directly to a hospital in Kathmandu, where our team will assist them.
In case of minor altitude sickness, you and one of our guides will be sent to a lower altitude. The client will bear the additional expenditure for the stay, as it is typically not included in the package.
We take the participants very steadily on the route to ensure acclimatization. We also provide sufficient hot water to fill your water bottles and send out constant reminders to drink to keep you hydrated.
If you wish to return early, you can either take a chopper evacuation to Kathmandu airport and fly back or move to Kathmandu with one of the guides. The entire expenditure is to be borne by the client and is excluded in this package.
We advise you to undergo a physical assessment and a fitness training program before the trip and to consult with us to assess readiness.
Kathmandu has good international hospitals. There are also medical facilities available in other locations (Lukla, Namche Bazar, Pheriche) on the route. Our team is also carrying an emergency oxygen cylinder to handle high altitude emergencies. Our team is also professionally trained in first aid.
The Nepal local mobile network works through the trek/route, including at the Everest Base Camp. You may buy a local SIM card or activate international roaming on your Indian SIM cards. Our team will also be using walkie-talkies and carrying a satellite phone for emergency communication.
We provide a porter service that carries up to 10 kgs of luggage for each participant for the entire trek. The luggage carried by the porter needs to be packed separately in a duffle bag. The duffle bag should be packed and handed over to the porter before breakfast. The porter will drop the duffle bag at the next destination, where it will be available once the participants reach there. Participants are responsible for carrying any items they need during the trek, such as spare gloves, socks, jackets, and water, in their knapsack. The weight of the knapsack would be approximately 4 to 5 kgs.
Yes, we have our own office and expert guides in Kathmandu. Our address is F26 Kageshwari Manohara, Kathmandu, Nepal 44600.
